Tried ati the 7,12 on Ubuntu Gutsy
As soon as released from Amd Tuxmind it has tried new ati the 7,12 on Ubuntu Gutsy. The installation is spun smooth like the oil and is also simpler regarding the versions precedence. I have followed that which a time came defined the way “hard”, that is the generation of packages personalized for Ubuntu from ati-driver-installer-8.443.1-x86.x86_64.run:
- I sudo apt-get install dh-make dkms debhelper debconf libstdc 5 linux-headers-generic
- I sudo bash ati-driver-installer-8.443.1-x86.x86_64.run - buildpkg Ubuntu/gutsy
- I sudo dpkg - the *.deb
Nonterete that in the first line (between prerequirement for the compilation) is present a commando of installation not previewed for driver the precedence, dkms (Dynamic Kernel Module Support) that now, instead, it is demanded at the level of kernel.
Not there is more need than module-assistant it preseems…, the installation and the compilation happens during the installation of sources. Practically fan all by themselves.
At the end in order to control enough a beautiful one fgl_glxgears and if you see the cube with the gears to turn, it wants to say that all it is to place.

I have yesterday installed the 7,12 on a Vaio VGN-A517M. I have a ATI Mobility Radeon X600. Problems:
1) the resolution arrives max to 1152×864 (instead that 1440×900 like with Windows and all precedence driver ATI for linux till the 7.11)
2) the suspension works finally (, has kernel 2.6.22-14) but if only not active effects 3D
3) with the active effects 3D, the several videoplayer (DVD continue not to be fruibili, webTV and quant'altro): video in jerks, sgranati etc
To these problems have they also you or have found of the solutions?

I do not have nobody of the problems that you have marked; the only dysfunction that I have is the classic slowness of the bar of sliding of firefox when compiz it is active. From how much you say would seem that the problems are only taken place when compiz it is active. It is thus?

@ Mad Thanks thousand of the feedback and many auguries to all. The problems are with compiz active, except that one of the resolution, present in spite of the setting of xorg.conf. You that resolution you have? 1440×900? and that it files you have?

First of all many auguries and Good Born them to all. I have tried between several forum, comprised Americans and French, and effectively version 7,12 seems anywhere to have problems in finding resolutions widescreen “not standard” (like note the 1440×900), to prescind from the model of installed card ATI. Personally I am estimating the reverse to the 7,11 for having a decent visualization of photo and films, even if the suspension is rather important for me.
Thanks to anyone had to signal a temporary solution, waiting for the new ones driver!

Many auguries also to you, my card is a Mobility Radeon 9600, the resolution instead is 1280×1024 and I do not have problems. However anch'io I wish to deepen and confido in the aid of the other linuxiani friends…

@ piero. Thanks of the council. To say I have tried the true one it without to have happened: the escape predefined video era set up, like plugin, on “survey automatic rifle”, but also with the selection “x windows system without xv” the video continues to having releases. Thanks however!
