According to the Datamonitor society, that it has lead a search in 14 countries, the investments of the schools on the software open source will endure an increment from put into effect them 286,2 million dollars to the 489,9 of 2012. The search has been lead on the base of interviews with suppliers and civil employees of the technical Institutes of: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Low France, Germany, Australia, India, Denmark, Finland, Countries, Spain, Norway, Sweden and Italy.
The expense forecast regards the operating systems and the learning of the management systems, which the used software in order to carry out the Webcast of conferences available online, plus the maintenance and the support. Draft of a small part of that these countries spend for the IT, but the trend it is sure in increase. Other data important to find is that the interviewed ones have emphasized like such chosen or of strategic order, in short thinks to have a better return from the investment on software open source, while only a minority of schools has let to guide from motivations philosophical-ethics, like as an example desire not to give their money to a software society trades them.
Quite some regions in India, and even the French government, have encouraged the schools to use the software open-source, in particular the operating systems.
