Phonon with VLC and MPlayer
Tanguy Krotoff, a sviluppatore of the VLC project, has announced that it is carrying ahead a plan in order to create VLC and MPlayer backends for Phonon. Ours it has added also that it will publish the railroads of a version alpha of such plan for Ubuntu Hardy when Qt 4.4.0 is committees to the final version, that it would have to happen, to its to say, own in these days.

VLC Phonon backend uses libvlc (http://wiki.videolan.org/Libvlc) in order to control VLC. It currently works under Windows and Linux by loading libvlc-control. (DLL|I know) at runtime.
