To share rows with NFS is better
In post the precedence I have tried to explain like sharing rows between two PC linuc with samba. However this protocol is born originally like interface that allows the sharing of resources between systems windows and linux; he is therefore obvious that when blots some to them in net they are PC linux the just choice is not more samba, “among other things rather heavy”, but the protocol purposely developed for the systems *nix, that is NFS.

Here as I have made:
Serveur:
- Installation of NFS (I sudo apt-get install portmap NFS-kernel-serveur);
- sharing of the cartelle (I sudo gedit /etc/exports); for every folder to share to insert in the rows exports the following line: /Condivisa/192.168.0.2 (rw, sync)
- to specify the client to which allowing the access (in my case is a solo):
gedit /etc/hosts.allow;
to insert the line portmap mountd nfsd statd lockd rquotad: 192.168.0.2 (IP of the client); - to render effective the modifications riavviando the demons;
I sudo /etc/init.d/portmap restart
I sudo /etc/init.d/nfs-kernel-server restart; - to create the folder with l point of mount (mkdir /media/ArchivioDesktop)
Client
- Installation of NFS (I sudo apt-get install portmap NFS-common);
- to modify the /etc/hosts.allow rows:
gedit /etc/hosts.allow;
to add the line portmap: 192.168.0.1 (IP of the serveur); - to create the folder with l point of mount (mkdir /media/ArchivioLaptop).
Now we mount the cartelle shared:
- I sudo mount - t NFS 192.168.0.2: /home/maddom/CondivisaLaptop /media/ArchivioDesktop (on the serveur);
- I sudo mount - t NFS 192.168.0.1: /home/maddom/CondivisaDesktop /media/ArchivioLaptop (on the client);
On Ubuntu the two cartelle they will appear on the writing desk and in Resources of the menu of Gnome.
Naturally we can make in way to mount cartelle to the start editando the /etc/fstab rows:
- I sudo gedit /etc/fstab;
- 192.168.0.2: /home/maddom/CondivisaLaptop /media/ArchivioDesktop NFS rw, hard, intr 0 0 (on the serveur);
- 192.168.0.1: /home/maddom/CondivisaDesktop /media/ArchivioLaptop NFS rw, hard, intr 0 0 (on the client).
It is clearly that this type of configuration is apt to a net housewife between two PC, where not are emergency problems and the necessity is not had to implement several protections and to allow/to deny the access to this or those client (in this case must editare the /etc/hosts.deny rows, but it is not object of this post), for which if this is your condition this guide it makes for you.

To qualify the effects desktop on kde 4,1 svn by Mad on May 1st, 2008
As certainly you will know exists, in turn for the net, a remarkable amount of guides on the compilation of kde 4 from svn, but nobody, at least that I know, explains like qualifying the effects desktop of kwin; generally, when the System window is opened settings-->Desktop it is found to us of a desolating forehead to “Compositing is not supported on your system.

I would not want to seem pedantic but pure the NFS is exceeded from aeons: it has more than 20 years (born in 1984) and in computer science they are several geologic era in spite of the added pezze successively.
I would propose a repairing article titolato “To share rows with tail is better”.

Continuous to support that NFS is the better way in order to share rows between PC linux. It is sure “more old”, but it is less heavy than samba, it introduces, to my opinion, less problems than configuration and, oltretutto, it does not suffer from large bug (in post the precedence of it I have documented a rather annoying one than system-config-samba).
