To install google-gadgets on Ubuntu 8.04

- Installation of the dependencies
I sudo apt-get install libdbus-1-dev libmozjs-dev libxml2-dev libgstreamer0.10-dev libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-dev libltdl3-dev libxul-dev libgtk2.0-dev librsvg2-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev
libqt4-dev libqtwebkit-dev (if it wants the porting on qt)
- download from here;
- extraction of the archives, positioning in the folder google-gadgets-for-linux-0.9.1.
- compilation
./configure - prefix=/usr
make
make install
In order launch the application to make Stop F2 and to execute /usr/bin/ggl-gtk (gnome) or /usr/bin/ggl-qt4 (kde).

and then from synaptic tried the package “gadget” based on the origin and you the fairies to install without defects.
IMHO then I would re-enter in sources.list and I would put davanti ogniuna of the two lines the #
tried on Ubuntu 8.04
I forgot in order to start the program to type ggl-gtk from finishes them or on a launcher.

I have followed or the instructions from package (finds the commando ggl-dgk but not null nozzle to me) that from repository (when I give ggl-gdk says to me that it does not find the program)
but not fuziona null.

/usr/local/bin/ggl-gdk. (from repository)
but hours I have an other problem:
when I say to it add gadget
it opens me videata and he says to me
- failed to update gadget date please try again later -
someone to some council since I have tried many times over but from always
the same one videata of failed update?

You have installed libsqlite3-dev? It is possible that or a problem of database.
Other thing that comes to me in mind: you have installed in /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin? Perhaps it has need of a link.
Test and makes to know me. Obviously not being able to test this type of problem it is difficult to give an answer.

it continues to fail to me update but I have since it has of the widget of default but they do not leave to me

From a fast glance to the code of gadgets me they are rendered account that update partially failed can be caused from rows corrupted in the cache. Therefore you would have to annul the cache and to rifare a full download.

You go in yours home, it visualizes the hidden rows and it cancels the content of the folder .google/gadgets/downloaded_gadgets

but the result are not good.
They have gone on Synaptic and I have given complete removal of google-gadget;
after that I have removed the folder that you have illustrated to me.
They have gone on synaptic I have rinstallato all but they give always the usual error to me
not to be able to dawn failed update.
