Koffice Beta, the great challenge.

The 25 of September have been announced the release of Koffice beta 1 and I have intentional to try it on mine kde4 svn. Kdesvn-build koffice, and, after approximately two hours and thus average between download and compilation here the result through three screenshots:

koffice1.png koffice2.png koffice3.png koffice4.png

These the main proposed applications:

  • KWord, a Word processor;
  • KSpread, a calculation sheet;
  • KPresenter, manager of presentations;
  • KPlato, a Project management software;
  • Karbon, a editor of vectorial diagram;
  • Krita, a editor of diagram bitmap;
  • Kchart, a manager of diagrams available like plugin and therefore integrated in the other applications.

For other information on the download I use and it of Koffice on other operating systems (Koffice is multiplatform) consulted this page.
Sincerely not creed that this release or still to the height of OpenOffice or MsOffice, even if is certain that the great job carried out from the sviluppatori has carried remarkable improvements to all the package. Perhaps it convene to wait for the definitive release for having more elements and more expressing a completed judgment, however my thought is that the development of this suite depends in sure a which way from the fortunes of Kde4 to which me intrinsically seems legacy, although its multisistemica vocation.

Adobe Air for Linux, Beta, but second to nobody.

I have tried Adobe Air (Adobe Integrated Runtime) for Linux, the famous system of runtime fines platform that uses allows it of Flash, Flex, Javascript, Ajax for the creation of rich Internet application (RIVER). and I find a wonder to it. I will not be to dilungarmi on the characteristics of the product, have already made it in many, neither I mean to take part to wars of “religion” on more or less presumed approach than Adobe to the world open source, the goodness of the product interests me simply and, you believe to me, bond it is indeed. The installation is easy, enough to unload the installer from here, to render it eseguibile with chmod x adobeair_linux_b1_091508.bin and thus launch it: ./adobeair_linux_b1_091508.bin. At the end we will have two new voices in the Applicazioni->Accessori menu:

I have tried also two examples of applications unloaded from the site of Adobe Labs, Fresh, a reader of feed rss,  Fresh.png

and RoadFinder that arranges the power of two of the most popular systems than maps online: Yahoo Maps and Google Maps. RoadFinder.png
Obviously for who it has ability and it wants to learn, nothing is beautifulr that to construct the applications by themselves. Or not?
