First tests from “intrepid”.
At this point all know that Canonical has released the first beta of Ubuntu 8,10 Intrepid Ibex and, for a “smanettone classic” as the undersigned the temptation has been quickly fortissima. Thus picking the ball to the leap of needy mine notebook as not never of a beautiful “cleaning” I have taken the courage to two hands and I have installed you the intrepido.
I must say that my expectations have not been absolutely disappointed, indeed; the new creature has demonstrated itself stable, fast, powerful, quickly reliable, although or still a Beta 1, and although, like in the best tradition than Ubuntu, or made resorted to last found again the technological ones of the universe of the pinguino: link, in two hours approximately of I use; naturally I will make myself hurries to modernize the post in the event you had some to find others.
Instead an annoying disadvantage, even if somewhat not certainly imputable to Ubuntu, it is the impossibility to use the driver fglrx for the amd/ati graphical cards because of the lacked support of saying version 8,9 driver to new xorg the 7.4. Therefore of two one: to make the downgrade from xorg 7,4 7.3, or to use the driver open for the cards supported.
The trouble is that, considered the advanced stage of the development of Intrepid, it somewhat seems difficult to preview a support to me from amd before the release final. We hope well!
